Lead for Literacy Virtual Summit - Nov 6th
Virtual Summit: Nov 6, 2019 01:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Sponsored in partnership by NAESP and the Lead for Literacy Center (L4L), this Virtual Summit will explore the Lead for Literacy Framework as a model for developing essential literacy-related leadership skills among administrators and for supporting teacher use of evidence-based literacy practices.
Presenters from the Lead for Literacy Center will provide an overview of this Framework and discuss how it can be used by school leaders to determine current needs, assess readiness for change, and prioritize immediate steps in building a robust schoolwide multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS) system. Presenters will introduce resources and tools that can be accessed by participants for immediate application in school settings. Throughout the session, presenters will provide opportunities for participants to explore resources and actively engage with components from the L4L Framework.
Overall, the Lead for Literacy Center’s approach to supporting school leaders in facilitating teacher implementation of evidence-based literacy practices is rooted in research evidence and is designed to equip school leaders to effectively support teachers’ implementation of literacy assessment, instruction, and intervention. Ultimately, this leads to effective MTSS and improved outcomes for students with and without literacy-related disabilities. By the conclusion of the Virtual Summit, participants will:
- Identify and define the five critical elements of the L4L Framework.
- Obtain access to resources aligned with the L4L Framework.
- Use tools aligned with the L4L Framework to support the implementation of evidence-based literacy practices.
